OUR STORY
We're a family of four with a pooch, scratching the surface of our amazing continent while we can. Life's too short not to!

We're a family of four with a pooch, scratching the surface of our amazing continent while we can. Life's too short not to!

This chapter describes the short exodus from our home-state into South Australia, via the goldfields in May 2024, as well as our re-entry via the Kimberley three and a half months later. This chapter though, will only continue to grow as we vow to get away locally as often as we can, until our next great Aussie adventure!

Our South Australian chapter includes our adventures across the Nullarbor, around the Eyre Peninsula and our trip to Coober Pedy. It also features our journeys through the Flinders Ranges, South Australian wine regions, Adelaide Hills, and the drive to Victoria via Mount Gambier.

Chapter 3 begins with our epic journey along the Great Ocean Road before boarding the Spirit of Tasmania. After returning to mainland, we caught up with family in Melbourne, explored the Yarra and Goulburn River Valleys, played in snow in Mount Buller, tasted our way through the King Valley, and chased the Man from Snowy River. A nice broad taste of Victoria in the time we had.

We loved our two weeks in Tassie. This chapter covers a lot, from Devonport to the east coast, convict trails, Bruny Island, national parks, including Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair, and Freycinet, the UNESCO Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area, and more.

After weaving in and out of NSW along the upper Murray River region, we finally crossed over, on "the road to Gundagai!" We spent 4 days checking out the surrounding region before briefly detouring to the ACT, then continuing north to the Hunter Valley and on to the subtropics.

So happy to have made it to the national capital! Following Federation in 1901, there was some dispute between Sydney and Melbourne (of course!) as to which one would be named the Australian capital. In the end, a neutral territory was decided on and the rest is history! Our highlights for sure were the Australian War Memorial, Parliament House and the National Art Gallery.

Queensland is a big state, only second in size to WA, but just as diverse! From beach to reef, to rainforest to outback, we only scratched the surface. But one thing's for sure - we shall return! Stopping in now to buy a lotto ticket!

We finally made it to the Territory! Funnily enough, as we crossed the border from Camooweal in Queensland, we were asked to wind back out clocks by 30 minutes (and 5 years!) Hilarious! But this is the real outback, and something we wish every Australian had the opportunity to experience.
